Crafted by craftsmen from Greece, the baptismal font is the vessel in which we receive our first sacrament as Orthodox Christians. The Font represents Christ’s Tomb in which we spiritually descend with Him to share in His Death and Three Day Burial so that by His Grace, we may mysteriously one day experience His Three Day Resurrection for eternity. Sometimes looking like a giant Chalice, it reminds us of the “Cup” that Jesus accepted as part of the Divine Plan of the Father for the salvation of the world. This “Cup” was His Passion, Death, and Burial.
